Review Overview

Flagship ROG Cooling

The Ryujin III 360 ARGB Extreme sits at the premium end of ASUS's liquid-cooling lineup, combining substantial radiator-fan performance with extensive monitoring, customization and motherboard cooling.

Upgraded Extreme Hardware

The Extreme is not simply the standard Ryujin III with a different name. ASUS upgrades the pump platform and replaces the standard 25mm radiator fans with substantially more powerful 30mm models.

Display-Centered Design

A 3.5-inch full-color IPS LCD forms the visual centerpiece of the pump assembly and can display system-monitoring information, custom graphics and animated content.

These specifications apply specifically to the ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB Extreme. The standard ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB uses different radiator fans and should not be used as the source for the Extreme model's fan-performance specifications.

Asetek Emma Gen8 V2 Cooling Platform

Updated Pump Platform

ASUS identifies the Extreme model's cooling engine as Asetek's Emma Gen8 V2 platform. It uses a three-phase motor and is designed for increased coolant flow with reduced hydraulic impedance.

Copper CPU Plate

Processor heat enters the liquid loop through a copper CPU contact plate integrated into the pump and water-block assembly.

Current CPU Optimization

ASUS specifically positions the Extreme platform for current AMD AM5 processors and Intel Core Ultra desktop CPUs, with an adjustable mounting approach for Intel's newer heat-zone layout.

ASUS reports up to a 7.5% CPU-temperature reduction on supported Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors compared with the standard ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB. This is an ASUS internal comparison and not a guaranteed temperature reduction for every processor or system.

30mm Magnetic ARGB Fans

0–2800 RPM

The three upgraded 120mm radiator fans can operate from zero RPM to 2800 RPM ±10%, providing both fan-stop capability and substantial maximum-speed cooling headroom.

89.73 CFM

ASUS rates each fan for up to 89.73 CFM airflow, a significant increase over the fan specification of the standard non-Extreme Ryujin III 360 ARGB.

5.15 mm H₂O

Maximum static pressure reaches a rated 5.15 mm H₂O per fan, giving the radiator fans substantial pressure capability for overcoming resistance through the cooling fins.

Thicker Fan Construction

30mm Fan Frames

ASUS increases fan thickness to 30mm rather than the more common 25mm format. The additional depth contributes to the Extreme model's higher airflow and static-pressure capability.

Three-Phase Six-Pole Motors

The upgraded fans use three-phase six-pole motors together with fluid dynamic bearings. ASUS designed the system to improve motor stability, efficiency and durability while controlling vibration and acoustics.

Magnetic Daisy-Chain Design

Fans Snap Together

Magnetic connectors physically and electrically link the three radiator fans, transferring control signals and power between them without requiring a separate cable from each individual fan.

One Cable for Three Fans

Once the fans are linked, only one primary cable is required for the radiator-fan group. This simplifies installation and helps reduce cable clutter around the radiator.

Integrated VRM Cooling

5100 RPM Embedded Fan

A dedicated axial fan is built into the water-block housing and operates at up to 5100 RPM ±10% to provide airflow around the CPU socket.

21.08 CFM

ASUS rates the embedded fan for 21.08 CFM airflow and 5.53 mm H₂O static pressure, allowing it to direct meaningful airflow toward motherboard power-delivery components.

VRM Temperature Support

This addresses one traditional AIO limitation: unlike large air coolers, most liquid-cooler pump blocks provide little direct airflow across motherboard VRM heatsinks.

ASUS reports a reduction of up to 36°C in its internal VRM test when the embedded fan was enabled. That figure comes from ASUS's specified test configuration and should not be interpreted as a universal motherboard-temperature reduction.

3.5-Inch Full-Color LCD

640 × 480 Resolution

The Extreme upgrades the display to a 640 × 480 image resolution, giving system data, graphics and animations substantially more visual detail than basic pump-top displays.

60 Hz Refresh Rate

The display operates at 60 Hz, allowing smoother animation and monitoring updates than low-refresh decorative screens.

24-Bit Color

ASUS specifies 24-bit full-color output for the 3.5-inch IPS panel, supporting custom images, animations and ROG-designed visual themes.

System Monitoring & Personalization

Live Hardware Data

The LCD can display system information including clock frequencies, voltages, temperatures, fan speeds and coolant-flow information supported by the control environment.

Custom Graphics

Users can display custom images and animated content on the LCD, allowing the pump housing to function as a visual centerpiece in showcase-oriented builds.

AIDA64 Integration

ASUS includes a one-year AIDA64 Extreme subscription and provides ROG-specific themes for displaying detailed system information on the cooler's screen.

Radiator & Case Fit

399.5mm Radiator Length

The aluminum radiator measures 399.5 × 120 × 30mm. A case therefore needs more physical space than the nominal "360mm" designation alone might suggest.

Approximately 60mm Combined Depth

Pairing the 30mm radiator with the 30mm radiator fans creates roughly 60mm of nominal radiator-and-fan depth before allowing extra clearance for screws, motherboard heatsinks and surrounding components.

The unusually thick 30mm fans are an important compatibility consideration. Builders should verify both radiator length and total assembly depth rather than relying only on a case manufacturer's generic 360mm radiator listing.

Installation & CPU Compatibility

Intel Support

Official Intel compatibility includes LGA1851, LGA1700, LGA1200 and the LGA115x family, giving the cooler broader Intel support than some current-generation AIO designs.

AMD Support

AMD compatibility includes AM5 and AM4, covering current Ryzen processors and the preceding mainstream AMD socket generation.

400mm Sleeved Tubing

The cooler uses 400mm sleeved rubber tubing, providing routing flexibility for compatible top- and front-mounted radiator positions.

Works Best With

Flagship CPUs

The Extreme's high-output radiator fans, updated pump platform and 360mm radiator format make it most appropriate for modern performance processors where substantial thermal headroom is useful.

Large Showcase Cases

The 399.5mm radiator, thick 30mm fans and prominent LCD pump housing make this cooler best suited to spacious cases designed around high-end 360mm liquid cooling.

ROG / Aura Sync Builds

Builders already using ASUS ROG motherboards and Aura Sync hardware can integrate the cooler's lighting, monitoring and visual design into a more unified system.

Rockin Box Tech Summary

The ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB Extreme is designed as much around premium integration and presentation as raw cooling hardware, but the underlying specifications are substantial.

ASUS pairs a 399.5 × 120 × 30mm aluminum radiator with three unusually thick 30mm magnetic fans rated for up to 2800 RPM, 89.73 CFM and 5.15 mm H₂O each. The cooler also uses the Asetek Emma Gen8 V2 pump platform and incorporates a dedicated 5100 RPM VRM fan into the water-block assembly.

The 3.5-inch IPS LCD distinguishes the Extreme from performance-only AIOs. Its 640 × 480 resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate and 24-bit color support allow the pump housing to display detailed monitoring data, custom graphics and animations instead of serving only as a cooling component.

The tradeoff is a physically substantial and feature-heavy cooler. The 30mm radiator and 30mm fans require roughly 60mm of nominal depth, while the large display housing, ARGB controls and monitoring features are most useful in a showcase-oriented system. For builders who want flagship cooling hardware, motherboard-area airflow and a high-quality integrated display in the same package, the Ryujin III 360 ARGB Extreme occupies a distinctly premium position.
